Originally settled by First Nations People's 8000 years ago, the first European travelers landed at Nootka Sound near Gold River. Both the Spanish and English explored, mapped, and nanamed the islands and bays. Galiano Island and Cortez Island are just a couple that retained their names from Spanish explorers.

Vancouver Island is approx 400 Km. long and approx 70 Km. wide, it has two very distinct sides. The protected East side where 90% of the population lives and the "Wild side" open to the Pacific Ocean and all of it's drama. Come visit our Island and you may want to spend the rest of your life here.
World-class 18 hole golf courses, as well as several 9 hole courses and practice centers. Vancouver Island also offers sport fishing, sailing, and pleasure boating from several local marinas and the Nanaimo Yacht Club.
